Landscape installation is for the yard that needs a real plan. Maybe the builder left a strip of sod and three small shrubs, or the beds are more weeds than plants. Green Tree Landscape and Maintenance puts in new landscapes and full yard makeovers. We serve Tualatin and the south and west side of the Portland metro.
Every makeover starts with landscape design. We look at the yard with you and plan where the beds, plants, rock and lawn go. Then we put the quote in writing. If the plan includes a new sod lawn or a sprinkler system, it is part of the same job.

Good garden landscaping starts with how you use the yard. Where does the sun hit in July? Where does water sit in January? The view from the back windows and the path the dog takes matter too.
Those answers shape the layout. Sunny beds and shady corners each get plants that suit them. If you want a paver walkway or patio, we fit it into the same plan.
Drainage is part of the plan too. OSU Extension notes that areas where water stands after rain are a problem for almost all landscape plants. If a spot stays soggy through the wet season, the plan may start with a French drain or regrading.
OSU Extension points to fall for shrubs and trees. From mid-September through mid-November, Oregon soils stay warm enough for strong root growth. Autumn rains then cut down on watering. For natives, OSU advises planting in the wet season, typically fall to late winter or early spring.
Spring and summer planting works with steady water. Plants that go in then need extra watering through their first growing season. Even native plants need regular water in early summer while roots take hold. Work days follow the weather, so a wet week can move the schedule.
NOAA normals for the Portland airport put nearly 9 of every 10 inches of rain between October and May. OSU Extension says native plants are adapted to wet winters and dry summers like these. Red-osier dogwood and Douglas spirea handle wet soil, and sword fern and salal suit the shade under tall firs.
New beds start with the soil. Construction can pack the ground hard around newer homes. OSU Extension says to dig up the whole planting area when that happens. We add compost or new soil where the beds need it, then grade so water runs away from the house.
Bark dust is the Northwest word for shredded bark mulch, most often fir or hemlock. It holds moisture in the soil through the dry summer and helps keep weeds down. OSU Extension advises a layer no deeper than 3 inches, kept about 6 inches back from woody stems. Bark dust breaks down, so it usually needs a fresh layer every 2 to 4 years.
Some beds get decorative rock in place of bark dust. Rock lasts longer because it does not break down. Edging then holds a clean line between each bed and the lawn.

We come out to see the yard and where the water runs. For the maintenance program, we look over the lawn and the beds.
You get the quote in writing, with the work spelled out. Once you say yes, we set a start date, and work days follow the weather.
Then the work starts, whether that is an install, a build or your first maintenance visit. On a new landscape, the soil is prepped and graded before anything goes in the ground.
We take a final look at the work with you, and the site is cleaned up. Then we go over what comes next, like watering new sod or the date of the next visit.

Learn MoreNew plantings, lawns, paver patios, retaining walls and drainage all come from one company. We can keep up the yard we build on our maintenance program.
Our landscape maintenance program runs all year at a flat monthly rate. The rate stays level through the quiet winter months and the busy leaf season.
The base under a paver patio is compacted in layers before the first paver goes down. Retaining walls get drainage gravel and pipe behind them. We install the backflow assembly the code requires on every new sprinkler system.

Carlos and team did a great job on our new paver patio and pathway. Communication was excellent and responses were quick. He shared examples of options and asked questions along the way to make sure we were getting what we wanted. We'll use them again for future projects without hesitation.
We had a great experience working with Carlos and his team. Carlos was professional, reliable, and easy to communicate with throughout the entire project. His pricing was very reasonable, and I really appreciated his attention to detail. He took the time to make sure the grading and sod installation were done correctly rather than rushing through the job. It’s clear Carlos takes pride in his work and cares about doing things well. We would absolutely hire him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for landscaping or yard work.
He was very good. Review our system and did an upgrade. Checked all sprayer heads and adjusted as needed. He was very professional and efficient. Great job. Would recommend he to anyone who has a sprinkler issue.
