Green Tree Landscape and Maintenance is the landscaping company Carlos Cruz started in 2021. It does the work he built it around. That means keeping yards up on a year-round program and putting in new landscapes and lawns. It also means building paver patios, retaining walls, fences and drainage that make a Portland-area yard usable in every season.
Our work is for homeowners. Some want the yard kept looking good all year on our 12-month maintenance program. It runs at a flat monthly rate, the same in winter as in leaf season. Others want a new landscape put in, with planting beds, shrubs, sod and a sprinkler system.
We build paver patios and walkways for people who want a patio they can use all summer. When the slope behind the house keeps sliding into the yard, we terrace it with block retaining walls and steps. A backyard that stays a mud pit from November to April may need a French drain to move the water. We put in artificial turf and low-voltage landscape lighting, and we build cedar fences.

The base under a paver patio is compacted in layers before the first paver goes down. Retaining walls get drainage gravel and pipe behind them. We install the backflow assembly the code requires on every new sprinkler system.

We come out to see the yard and where the water runs. For the maintenance program, we look over the lawn and the beds.
You get the quote in writing, with the work spelled out. Once you say yes, we set a start date, and work days follow the weather.
Then the work starts, whether that is an install, a build or your first maintenance visit. On a new landscape, the soil is prepped and graded before anything goes in the ground.
We take a final look at the work with you, and the site is cleaned up. Then we go over what comes next, like watering new sod or the date of the next visit.

Our yard was a mess and Green Tree made it beautiful for us. They cleaned up the back yard and laid sod. That was an amazing transformation and the grass is still gorgeous. In the front yard they dismantled an aging pathway I put in years ago and replaced it with large stone and some kind of filler in any gaps so weeds don't grow. it's perfectly angled for water run off. It looks beautiful and every time see it I'm thrilled with the quality of work.
